Amano is a sushi restaurant tucked away at small street in the Fukushima Area in Osaka. It is about 10 to 15 minutes away from Ritz Carlton Hotel (walking). With only 1 course set available, it costs about 14000 Yen per person (CASH ONLY). Although the price is rather expensive, the food served in Amano is very delicate and enough to fill you up; a real treat to those who love to eat fine-dining food but not at fine-dining portions. There were about 18 to 19 high quality small dishes served. I'll let the pictures illustrate this:
Seaweed with Ponzu, Steamed abalone, Tai sashimi, Chu Toro sashimi, Kani chawanmushi, braised ayu fish, amaebi sashimi, lotus roots with pickles |
Ika, Sayori, Otoro, Kohada, Hamaguri, Uni |
Amano's famous soup, Anago, Tamago, Mirugai |
Well, I have to say this was one hell of a good sushi dinner and a darn good experience. Amano-san himself speaks a little bit of English and he was very friendly to me and my family. Something which stood out in this restaurant as compared to many of the sushi places I've eaten at is Amano-san's rice. It is full of flavour and more tasty than most Japanese sushi rice. Amano also slices and cuts his fish in a manner such that it is easier for you to chew and swallow it. To be frank, it melts in your mouth. This is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in Osaka and I look forward to coming back again.
