Foreigner friendly? Feeds you a lot? Very reasonable pricing? Good cost performance? Large variety of tsumami and nigiri sushi? If you said yes to all that, then this is the place for you! Compared to all the high profile sushi names out there flooding instagram everyday, Nishiazabu Taku is a one star michelin sushi restaurant that is definitely not as famous as many other places but its a must-go for me because the chef serves a lot of things at a very reasonable price. Shall we have a look:
Edamame, Sea cucumber, barracuda box sushi, snapper, surf clam, surf clam muscle |
Steamed spanish mackerel, oysters, chawanmushi with clam broth, grilled black trout, daikon with shiso leaf |
Shirako, squid stuffed with rice and eggs, lotus roots, mushrooms, wakasagi fish |
Sea trout, snapper, 2 kinds of sea urchin, squid, sayori fish, marinated spanish mackerel |
Young Tuna, Medium fatty tuna, fatty tuna, gizzard shad, boiled shrimp, raw mackerel |
Conger eel, egg, murasaki sea urchin, monkfish liver, clam soup, 3 kinds of ice cream |
As I mentioned earlier on, this place is also very foreigner friendly and very flexible to their demands; although of course the best experience is the one where you can eat anything and just allow the chefs to work their magic. By the way, I was rather surprised by its low tabelog score though, I honestly thought it would be rated a lot higher than what it is at the moment. Nevertheless, in my books, it is at least a solid 4/5 if not higher.
