Sushi Sho Masa すし匠まさ @ Roppongi, Tokyo (2nd Visit)


Ever wanted to go to a fun sushi restaurant where you get to try a wide variety of small dishes, sushi and get fed A LOT? This is the place for you! I ate 59 items in Sushi Sho Masa and boy was it one of the most satisfying dinners any sushi lover can ever want. This is my second visit here and while there were items which I recognized from my first visit, there were quite a few new surprises, some of which were mind blowing good.  Now you must be wondering how on earth did I manage to stomach 59 items? I'll show you:



Notable pieces - the muscle of the clam and sweet shrimp (bottom left and middle left)

Notable pieces - Spanish mackerel marinated in kelp (top left), sea trout (2nd row right), matsukawa snapper (bottom left)

 Take note though, the items are not arranged in the manner they were served. I grouped them based on small dishes (otsumami) and nigiri sushi. During the meal of course he will interchange between nigiri sushi and small dishes. So how I managed to eat 59 items? His nigiri sushi is about 20% smaller than the Tokyo average and some of his small dishes were really very small items. Throughout the meal, the things you eat will become more exotic which I believe only fuels your hunger and interest in the next piece, simply because you don't know how to expect. Rest assured, everything he serves is delicious and some even blew my mind, like his conger eel liver and hotaru ika. Definitely can't wait to come back here a third time.
