Alto Tritone アルト トリトーネ @ Umeda, Osaka

Alto Tritone is a Japanese-Italian restaurant located near Westin Hotel Osaka and Umeda Sky Building. It is a family-owned restaurant with the father being the head chef, the mother mainly serving customers and the son who does some of the cooking and serves customers as well. They are very friendly and welcoming to all their patrons. The pasta here is all handmade using their guitar strings contraption which was built by the father.

Before I elaborate a little bit more, it's time to have a look at the pictures first:

This turned out to be one of the biggest surprise hits of my Osaka holiday. Each pasta dish was excellent! If I had to rank them though, I'd say my favourite was the one with prawn sauce, followed by the meat sauce, the salmon cream sauce and then the carbonara. What I love about the pasta was that the sauce they cooked was slightly thick (not watery) and it coated every strand of the al dente pasta evenly. He doesn't flood his pasta either so what you get is a very balanced combination, and of course a real treat to the taste buds. They also believe in eating your food while its hot so it's not uncommon to see them rushing to your table the second they finish dishing it out of the pan.

Prices here I must admit are slightly on the high side, about 400 yen higher than the equivalent in other places but in my opinion, it's well worth it. By the way, don't be deceived by the low score on Tabelog, it simply doesn't have enough ratings to receive a proper average score. If you're a big eater, I suggest you head here for supper at around 9pm instead of the usual dinner time so that you can have the whole place to yourself. Portions are decent, not huge, so you can probably wolf down at least 2 plates (I ate 4 so...)
