Sushi Harasho 鮨 原正 @ Osaka Uehommachi, Osaka

I've been trying to get Sushi Harasho for years. This 2 Michelin star sushi ya is one of the most popular, or should I use the word famous, restaurants in Osaka. Anyway, ever since the chef and owner, Ishikawa-san, started opening his restaurant for lunch, reservations definitely became a lot easier. However, when I say a lot easier, you still have to book at least a month in advance. What I like about Sushi Harasho is that the chef and his sous chefs are friendly, the food is great as expected of a 2 star michelin restaurant, and the cost performance/price performance for this place is really good. By the way, he serves the same for lunch and dinner, and yes the prices are the same for both at around 16000 Yen per person.

Let's have a look at the photos:

Kuromutsu fish
Sayori fish

Marinated lean tuna
Medium fatty tuna

Striped horse mackerel
Boiled shrimp

Young fatty yellow tail belly

Gizzard shad

Salmon Roe
Sea Urchin

Boiled conger eel

Minced fatty tuna handroll

Egg with various vegetables roll

Add on - horse mackerel
Add on - monkfish liver
Not including the add on pieces, you're looking at around 9 small dishes and about 13 pieces of sushi with egg and a soup for about 16,000 yen. Compared with other sushi restaurants of similar meal courses, I'm certain that the portion of the crab dish alone is worth 3 or 4 small dishes in other places. Pictures really don't do justice just how much meat there was in the crab. To me that was the dish that solidified Harasho's 2 Michelin stars. Other outstanding dishes include the monkfish liver, which prompted me to order a second helping but in the form of sushi later on in the meal. The shari used for the sushi is also fragrant and so tasty that you can probably eat it plain. I really enjoyed my meal here and hope I can return in the near future!
